Alexandra Hon

Born in 1989 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Alexandra Hon’s aspiration in becoming an artist was seeded at the age of 12 when she took interest in oil painting upon frequently visiting an Artist Village in the city, and forged ahead in studying art after finishing high school and received her Diploma in Fine Art from Malaysian Institute of Art in 2009.   In 2010, Alexandra took a big step in studying overseas in London, United Kingdom, the country of her ancestors and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Painting from Wimbledon College of Art within 2 years. And over the years, Alexandra’s art practice comprised of paintings, miniature wood carvings, and installation works, which had been involved in various exhibitions both in Malaysia and London; and during her free time, she involves herself in photography, which brought her to be Shortlisted for the Bar-Tur Award in 2011.

Alexandra Roddan

Alexandra Roddan has always had a strong passion for art. She completed a Foundation Diploma in Art in Design in 2012. Then went on to study a BA Painting Hons at The University of Edinburgh. Alexandra Roddan's practice is inspired by her experience of visiting a City. The colours, sounds, feeling of being in that place, which she hopes to translate into her paintings.

Alexandra Parkinson Jeweller

I am a maker. Inspired by natural forms and repetition, I explore unconventional methods of form making using traditional metalworking tools such as hammers, steaks, swage block, rolling mill and the anvil. Through direct contact with the material, I observe, learn and respond, working with it intuitively to allow organic and intriguing three dimensional forms to grow from the starting point of a single sheet of metal.  I aim to entice the viewer, inviting them to take a closer look through an intimate connection with the objects.

Alexander Johnson

Professional abstract artist based in East Sussex producing oils on canvas and hand-crafted silkscreen editions on paper. If you like the British Post-Modernists like Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron and Barbara Hepworth, this is one for you!

Aleksandra Cherepanova

My works reflect me the way I really am. I have been painting and drawing since I can remember. I have an academic type of education, but I think it is right to create my works by listening to my heart. What you see is the result of infinite creative exploration, of my passage from abstraction to object and back to abstraction. It might not be obvious to everyone, but all my works are united by one common thread. This may be stylized sea waves, or a fantasy-like story. But everything I depict has been felt and lived by me in reality, despite the fantastic or non-objective subject-matter. I do not like to identify myself as following a certain style. For me it is a label, which is oppressive and cage-like. Freedom from labels and creative freedom are of the greatest value to me! I am very much attracted to experimenting not only with form, but also with various techniques. This is also a search for a departure from canvas and return to canvas. One of such experiments led to the appearance of contemporary fresco – the auteur fresco technique. My works are united not only by the wavy lines, but also by their own depth, philosophy and sensuality. Nowadays it is considered indecent to talk about feelings in art. And it is time to break this taboo. I hope my paintings will tell you the rest. Thank you for your attention! Enjoy!   Performer's resume: In 2007 I graduated from the Academy of Painting department of Moscow Academy of Education (my creative advisor was V.A. Kulakov). Alex McIntyre

I use experimental drawing to explore processes of seeing, questioning and mark making. During 2014-15, I developed a practice of running and walking as a process of recording. This enables the close, embodied observation of changes of light, land and sky connected with breath and movement. Whilst making in the studio I try to re-capture the distilled impression of a particular journey. The creative process parallels the original journey resulting in a series of visual discoveries led by interactions with materials. Completed artworks are a conversation between the pictorial surface, materials and the memory of movement and places. I am particularly interested communicating non-verbal experiences of space, movement and stillness, noise and silence. I am currently an artist fellow of Digswell Arts, and member of Free Painters and Sculptors. I have undertaken artist residencies with Watford Museum (2014), during Ballet:Fused with English National Ballet (2013), Wizard Presents Production Company (2012), Brent Museum and Archives (2010-11), and Middlesex University (2008-10).

Alex Davies MRBS

Material and Process has always been the foundation on which Alex has based his sculpture. Using techniques that are hard to control or leaving time and natural elements to shape and form a sculpture, by doing this Alex feels he can remove the conscious thought process behind making shape and form, making decisions on what is in front of him and the feeling it evokes. Alex's day job as a foundry man involves controlling and hiding a lot of the skill and processes involved in making a finished sculpture, as a result he likes to leave parts and flaws of the making process as part of the sculptures he makes for himself. Since leaving Art college Alex has been involved for the last 20 years in making sculpture and other objects in metal, mostly Bronze and Steel, for himself, other artists and designers, from small gallery pieces to over 5 ton bronze monumental work. Early in Alex's working life he ran his own blacksmith business (Red Forge), this lead to a partnership in an art foundry. Alex has also been the foundry manager of the Morris Singer Foundry, leaving there in 2008 to set up his own fine art Foundry (Milwyn Casting) which he runs to this date. Elected to be a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (MRBS) March 2016

Alice Boyle

Alice Boyle is a Scottish artist who has recently returned to Scotland after 6 years of painting and exhibiting in London. Alice gained her Masters from Edinburgh College of Art then came up with and co-directed, the internationally acclaimed project, ‘The Graffiti Project’, at Kelburn Castle, Scotland 2006. The artists urged Alice to focus solely on her artistic practice, which she has done since early 2008.  Since then, Alice has participated in many group shows across Britain and held 10 very successful solo exhibitions. Recently tipped as one of the, ‘10 Scottish Artist’s you should know about’, in Culture Trip Magazine, she is making herself widely known, with her bold use of shapes, colour and texture. Alice works with layers of plaster because this process and the artworks themselves then have a sense of the primitive, giving the feel of pictograms or petroglyphs of ancient caves.  Alice makes marks into the plaster with, various utensils, forcing her to be spontaneous as the final layer of plaster dries rapidly.  It commands her from the start not to be too precious and to let her piece take on its own life. “My Artwork is about the journey of learning about the spirit of the world and ourselves and accepting all the imperfections. I want people to feel there is a joy and playfulness within my work and titles, which comes from enjoying the process”. 'The Paintings express a true sense of human emotion, spirituality and a zest for life'. - Vivien Devlin – ArtMag - 2016 The painter Alice Boyle has developed a style and artistic language that she has made entirely her own. ‘Embrace the sheer joy of these works. – The Times – Giles Sutherland - 2017

Alice Laird Du Port

I like to use the screen printing process as a way of mark making, applying the ink like a painter. I am purposefully careless with the way I work. The prints become detached from a literal representation of a place and become an emotional response. Themes of place and identity have always been a great influence in my work. Sometimes a place of personal significance subconsciously works its way into my thought process, which I find interesting to develop. Having grown up on the south coast of England and been sailing all my life, the sea is never far from my mind. The colours I am drawn to reflect the ever changing complexion of nature; skies that change hourly and the constant motion of the sea.

Alice Freeman

Currently living and working in Bristol. Alice Freeman is a member of Spike Island Print studios and B.V. studios. She has recently become a member of the RWA Artist Network. ‘A graduate of Camberwell College of Arts, Alice Freeman’s practice incorporates sculpture and etching in its drive to re-create the organic degradation of substances found in nature.’ Susie Pentelow, Traction Magazine, 2013 Etching is very similar to cooking; the ingredients consist of the plates, grounds and varnishes. Creation is through either adhering to strict instructions or improvising with the processes and ingredients. The various techniques such as aquatint, sugar lift and open bite all contribute to the ‘cooking’ procedure. Each outcome will be different depending on the recipe, and often the recipes that work best are the ones left to chance and the accidental. Alice's work deals with the tactile and textural qualities in etching and sculpture. Forms emerge through hands-on manipulation of a range of materials. These are moulded into an environment transforming it into a tactile space that both repels and attracts. Through the use of various chemical processes and acids the drawing, boundaries, and confinement of the plate decompose. By eroding the metal down to its core these images take on a three dimensional visceral quality. Alice's work is about materiality, texture and process, the combination of etching with sculpture is an interesting way of exploring how an etching can take on sculptural qualities and how a sculpture can become almost linear: a drawing in a space.  Education and Awards: 2015, Awarded Artist Network Member of RWA 2015, Member of Spike Island Print Studios 2015, Member of B.V. Studios, Bristol 2013, Awarded scholarship to participate in collaborative project with Mark Dion and Amy Yoes, Siena Art Institute, Siena, Italy 2012 - 2015, Key holder at Artichoke Printing Studios, London 2010 - 2013, Camberwell College of Arts London, Degree in B.A. Drawing and Fine Art 2012, UCL Certificate in Anatomy for the Artist

Alce Harfield

Alce was born in Sussex in 1966 to a very creative family. Her father, Geoffrey , before he retired was a commercial photographer, lecturer and picture framer and her mother Joan, Head of Art at a local convent school. Her brother and sister went on to study Architecture and Printmaking.  Alce completed a Pre-degree course at Worthing College of Art, before gaining a 2:1 BA (Hons) Degree in Interior Design at Leicester Polytechnic. She moved to Bristol in 1988 to design pubs for Courage Ltd and then went on to design office and shop interiors for another design practice. Following redundancy she worked as a freelance designer in the centre of Bristol on a number of commercial and domestic projects.  In the early 90’s Alce owned The Silly Fish Shops in Bristol and Bath selling her paintings and plasterwork based on the theme of fish. After 10 years with rising costs she closed the last one to concentrate on her painting. A move to Somerset from Bristol allowed her to build her dream studio and live the ‘good life’!  In August 2003 baby Cuba arrived and baby number two, Bali was born in Nov 2004. She is just about managing to juggle painting with parenting but finds her new role as a mother is as fulfilling as her work.  Early in 2004 she had two cataract operations which gave her a completely new perspective to her work!  Alce’s main incentive for painting is still foremost the pleasure it brings and a continual fascination with colour and texture.  She is influenced by many artists from Picasso to Turner, from Wallasse Ting to Raul Duffy and is inspired by the use of colour by Jake Sutton.  Eager to experiment she is well known for her wild skies, seascapes, cityscapes and her first love, bright florals. A brush with abstract art is still developing!  The development of a uniquely formulated three dimensional acrylic with light reflecting qualities has taken her work in a more contemporary direction with an emphasis on textural layers and additional mixed media from resin bumble bees to natural skeleton leaves.  She has been published by De Montford Fine Art, Woodmansterne and has sold original paintings to Soloman and Whitehead.

Alice Kelway-Bamber

My work focuses on the  disruption of self-imposed rules. This manifests itself in contrasting mechanical processes with ‘by hand’ elements. My practice is process lead, taking inspiration for making from making. Much of my work also attempts to bring to the fore barriers in communication between artist and viewer by creating screen-like structures or images.

Alice Kirkham

Alice has been working as a professional Artist and Designer for 3 years. Creating her own work and working at the studios of artist Damien Hirst, Designer Jewellers Tatty Devine and currently works as a Graphic Designer for UK art shops Cass Art.    At the core of Alice's practice is the process of abstraction, a way of refining complex imagery into coded shapes and structures, echoing that of the data compression process minification, which minimizes data whilst keeping the original source of the meaning. Focusing on themes surrounding the juxtaposition of the commercial art world in relation to its emerging links with social media and online tabloids. The work embodies, in its simplest essence, the act of creating something from nothing, the everyday passing of pointless information is gathered transformed and given a higher status than was ever intended, or deserved, through its progression and ascension in to Art.

Alice Martin

Alice Martin is a Scottish contemporary artist currently living and working in Stirlingshire. Martin is a Committee Member of the art collective GOSSIP (Graduate Opportunities Supporting Sustained Independent Practice), which is based in Stirling. In the past, Martin has worked as an intern for The Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum. She also collaborated with Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums for her Degree Show. Some of her 3D remixes have been shared by the Musée Saint-Raymond at the 8th Regional Forum hosted by CLIC France in Toulouse. Alice Shmul

Watercolor artist Alice. Need some money to get back to wonderland :D

Alice Samways

I am a practising artist who graduated with a first class degree in Fine Art from the University of Chichester in 2015. In my recent degree show work I depict anonymous subjects, whose portraits I put through a series of destructive processes to provoke ideas about entropy, mortality, and the fragile, impermanent nature of humanity. My work is influenced by artists such as Anselm Kiefer and Alison Lambert, and inspired by ideas surrounding memory, ruin, and humanity’s relationship with Earth.

Alice Woods

Alice Woods’ work explores the management of pleasure seeking, behaviours towards indulgence and the dichotomy between long-term and short-term gratification. A multidisciplinary artist, Woods’ research-led practice regularly transforms into sculptural, written and participatory outcomes. She examines prevailing social and economic conditions as a basis for producing work, unpicking the complex relationships between the powerful and the powerless.

Alice Lenkiewicz

I am an intuitive artist motivated by my surroundings, my inner thoughts and my emotions. My main medium is digital, mixed media art and painting. My themes are figurative, abstract and narrative themes. My inspiration derives from indigenous art, abstract expressionism and mystical art.

Alice Marie Cairns

Within my body of work, I have designed and created a collection of contemporary vessels, which I hope to be aesthetically and functionally stimulating. Creating a tactile collection, derived from the hands on the making process that is so important to me. Through my designing of various vessel shapes that are not necessarily seen as conventional but hopefully adventurous and challenging I hope that I have been able to push the boundaries of silversmithing. With this challenge, I had to design every aspect of my making process including tool making which has become a prevalent part of my work.
